It has been anything but a typical Labor Day weekend for those of us living in Southeast Louisiana. While we prepare for the arrival of hurricane Gustav it has been a blessing getting calls, text messages and emails from friends all over the country and world who are praying and thinking about us. I’m proud of Governor Jindal’s leadership and all of the elected officials in the region who started preparing and planning early for the hurricane. The churches who have all been communicating and standing up to the plate making sure everyone is safe. Many have been helping the elderly and converted their facilities to nursing homes. They are on stand by for whatever happens after the storm. One never knows what storms each one of us must face. For tonight at least, we know it’s Gustav.
